摘要
A highly versatile and robust hydrogen peroxide vapor test has been employed to probe the chemical degradation of NRE212CS membranes under a wide variety of RH environments. Under very low RH conditions, chain scission processes become operative leading to an increase in the carboxylic acid content and a subsequent decrease in high humidity chemical stability of the membranes. Durability tests of Na+-exchanged Nafion (R) membranes were undertaken to distinguish possible chain scission mechanisms. The impact of Ce3+ mitigation was also investigated.
