摘要：

Legal language receives increasingly wide attention due to its essential functions as its status improves. Witness language, as a part of legal language, plays an essential role in judicial practice. Four aspects of the functions of witness language are mainly analyzed from the perspective of systemic-functional linguistics, namely, adaptability, informativity, nature, and expressiveness in this paper. It is hoped that the research on the witness' status in court, features and functions of witness language, and importance of witness language for a fair judgment will be beneficial not only to researchers of legal language, but also professionals of legal science.
