摘要
Local and introduced sour cherry cultivars were evaluated in Latvia for their productivity and fruit quality. The productivity, fruit weight, content of soluble solids and chlorophyll content were determined from the young trees at the beginning of their fruiting stage. The highest productivity as well as high chlorophyll content was observed for the cultivar 'Bulatnikovskaya'. Comparatively high fruit weight was detected for the cultivars 'Tamaris' and 'Orlica'. The fruits of the cultivar 'Desertnaya Morozovoi' had both high fruit weight and high total soluble solid content. The use of woodchip mulch and drip irrigation was also tested in order to determine the response of sour cherry cultivars to temporary drought stress and water supply. Drip irrigation resulted in a rise in productivity for the cultivars yielding on spurs.
