Hydrodynamics of floating pontoons under oblique waves

摘要
In this paper, linear oblique waves interacting with infinitely long pontoons situated in arbitrary water depths are examined. The flow is assumed to be incompressible, inviscid undergoing irrotational linear waves, The floating pontoon is rectangle in cross section and tethered to the sea bottom by cables or chains. A numerically efficient method, an eigen-function expansion technique is utilized to investigate the two-dimensional problem of oblique waves interacting with long floating structure. Both the scattering and radiation problems are studied and then coupled through the equation of motion to calculate the different modes of motions under oblique incident waves. Numerical results of the present method had shown a good agreement in comparison with other numerical solutions for the same problem Results are also presented for a range of wave and geometric parameters which illustrate the behavior of the structure under oblique wave train.
