摘要
In the title 1:1 cocrystal comprising pyromellitic acid and 4-amino-N-(4,6-dimethyl-2-pyrimidinyl)benzenesulfonamide, molecules are aggregated into a supramolecular layer by O-H center dot center dot center dot O, O-H center dot center dot center dot N and N-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonding. As a result of the carboxylic acid molecule being non planar [a pair of diagonally opposite -C(=)OH groups deviate significantly out of the plane of the benzene ring to which they are attached] and the sulphonamide being bent [dihedral angle between six membered rings is 57.78(9)A(0)], the layer has a jagged step form. The layer also features large voids which allows threading by a centrosymmetrically related layer resulting in the formation of a doubly interpenetrated network. These stack along the b direction being connected by N-H center dot center dot center dot O(sulphonamide) interactions. The compound crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pbca with a = 9.573(2) , b = 15.212(3) , c = 30.782(7) , and Z = 8. Supramolecular arrays sustained by O-Ha <-O, O-Ha <-N and N-Ha <-O hydrogen bonding are threaded by centrosymmetrically related layers to give a doubly interpenetrated network.
