The Madrid Model: A semi-empirical method for subsidence estimating

摘要
In building the Mad-id Underground Railway (Metro) Extension (1995 - 1999), it was necessary to estimate movements or subsidence that excavations might cause in nearby buildings and installations as a phase prior to construction. Various methods were initially used: a) Finite element codes for reproducing complicated geometry, b) Simplified methods. Even though one of these methods gave a suitable result to specific cases, it was decided to develop an own method for Madrid ground (extrapolatable to other cities with slight corrections). This calculation method ("Madrid Model") and the results obtained compared with numerous actual measurements are submitted.
