MORPHO-ECOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF IMMATURE STAGES OF XYLOBIONT SPECIES OF THE GENUS PHAONIA ROBINEAU-DESVOIDY 1830 (MUSCIDAE, DIPTERA) INHABITING TREE HOLES AND SAP AGGREGATIONS
The biology of immature stages of the Diptera that follow xylophagous insects which inhabit sap aggregations and tree holes is studied. Data on the biology of the genus Phaonia Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 (Muscidae) are given for 4 species for the first time and supplemented for another 2 species. Their main diagnostic characters are revealed. The species differ in the life history of larvae, the morphology of the anterior and posterior spiracles, the structure of the creeping welts, cephalopharyngeal apparatus and anal plate. A key to immature stages of xylobiont species of the genus Phaonia is elaborated.
