摘要
The contribution examines the reflections of European philosophy at Presov Evangelical college in the 17th century. In the author's view there were three dominant philosophical conceptions in the 17th century: Bayer's baconism, Caban's atomism and Ladiver's evangelical aristotelism. The different ways of assimilating the European philosophy (especially that of Aristotle, Bacon, Descartes and Gassendi) provoked continual tension and conflicts. A special attention is paid to the conflict between Ladiver and Caban, concerning the existence of atoms, to Bayer's reception of Bacon's teaching on the ideals and to the approaches of all the above mentioned professors at Presov Evangelical college to logic or to Aristotle's metaphysics. The works by J. Bayer, I. Caban and E. Ladiver are characterized by the author as a dominant component of the most important traditions or philosophical thinking in Slovakia.
