摘要
This paper presents the results from an experimental study on the effects of hydrocarbon fire exposure on geopolymer and Ordinary Portland Cement concrete. The tests were designed to show the spalling effects due to varying slab thickness, type of concrete and reinforcement placement. Three different concrete mixtures were made: two geopolymer and on OPC concretes, all from similar strengths. Slabs of two thicknesses, 100 mm and 200 mm in size were cast from each mixture and tested for spalling under hydrocarbon fire exposure. The temperatures within the slabs at various depths from the exposed surface were recorded. After the test, the condition of the slabs was evaluated for degree of spalling. Results demonstrate that one type of geopolymer concrete performed well while the other one experienced spalling when subjected to hydrocarbon fire. Thermal incompatibility between paste and aggregate contributed to the spalling.
