Cultural and Creative Logos by Abdusalam Guseinov

Academician A.A. Guseinov, an outstanding Russian philosopher and scientist, whose life and multifaceted activities are a wonderful example for Russian youth, turned 80, and this article is dedicated to this event. It is written on the basis of A.A. Guseinov's works and his experience of collaboration with St. Petersburg University of Humanities and Social Sciences. The author of the article analyzes the works of academician A.A. Guseinov, published by St. Petersburg University of Humanities and Social Sciences publishing house, his numerous lectures, speeches, articles and interviews, characterizing his key ideas related to the substantiation of culture as a space of dialogue and cooperation, with the understanding of the humanistic mission of the institution of morality as an "ethical project". The article considers the main problems of A.A. Guseinov's oeuvre, among them the golden rule of morality, the problem of violence and non-violence, the dialogue of cultures. The particular attention is paid to the idea of negative ethics. A new understanding of morality and culture as proportional and mutually complementary forms of human activity is considered. The article shows that the spiritual and moral dominant of the academic work of the academician, his understanding of the philosophy of morality include the interpretation of mind as the highest humanistically orientating force.
