In Strasbourg, two public libraries, Mediatheque Andre Malraux (head of the network) and the Centre-Ville branch take a strong interest in the local music scene. After briefly introducing Strasbourg public libraries network, this paper presents how and why we've come to seek out material from local musicians what are the challenges of acquisition, and how we try to value develop this collection in terms of cataloguing procedures, discographies, articles on website etc. Then, different ways of promoting local musicians are presented: musical conferences, public rehearsal, the scene locale des mediatheques de Strasbourg festival, including the audience, musicians, and colleagues' feedback. The festival is presented with more details about what it takes in terms of technical, financial, human resources, and time spent. Finally, we'll evaluate the situation and tell if the objectives were reached and give an overview on the future projects
