A design approach for direct-drive permanent magnet motors

摘要
This paper presents a design approach of the direct-drive permanent magnet motors for a medium-sized injection molding application. The proposed approach employs Genetic Algorithms loop to optimize the lamination design. To achieve design quickly, the back-calculator for fitness evaluation in the proposed approach does not use Finite Element Analysis, but consists of a simple non-linear magnetic analysis. Under the restricted specifications of dimensions and requirements, the buried permanent magnet motor with 942Nm is optimally designed. The design result is validated by Finite Element simulation, both confirming the reliability of the proposed design approach and expected performance.
