摘要
A kinematic dynamo with a small scale velocity held is investigated numerically. This type of flow is believed to be at the origin of planetary magnetism and is suitable for an experimental demonstration of the dynamo effect. Parameters minimizing the critical magnetic Reynolds number are determined. The numerical data are compared with a mean held approximation which takes advantage of the separation of scales between the size of the entire flow and the typical length scale associated with the velocity field.
