摘要
Residual extractives had a noticeable impact on the brightness of unbleached kraft pulps in hardwood (trembling aspen). Oxygen delignification effectively removed these brightness-impacting extractives. There were two different classes of extractives in aspen unbleached kraft pulps: the first consisted of chromophore-containing extractives, including linoleic acid and steryl ester, which were well removed in oxygen delignification, and the others were non chromophore-containing extractives, including sterols and palmitic acid, which were resistant to oxygen delignification.
