摘要
Malaria is very dangerous and destructive parasitic infection in many underdeveloped countries. The current scenario of this disease is getting eviler. mainly due to the growing battle of Plasmodium falcipanun in contradiction of the pillar drug like chloroquine. There is a need of hours to discover novel drugs with unique structures and mechanism of action to treat drug resistant and sensitive strains of malaria. Natural products with unique structures are the major source for the lead discoveries and drug development against various diseases. This review presents recent advances and development in the field of new discoveries of antimalarial drug isolated from natural sources, especially fungi. This review covers investigation of fungal extracts. isolation and purification of chemically diverse secondary metabolites (macrolides. terpenes. peptides, xanthones and coumarines) exhibiting antimalarial activities. In sum these fungal metabolites can be used as novel scaffolds for drug development as antimalarial.
