A fracture mechanics analysis of the edge-cracked square plate fracture geometry is presented in this paper. The weight function method is used to provide accurate wide-ranging stress intensity factor, crack opening displacement and crack opening area expressions for the square plate geometry subject to any loading. A finite element analysis using ABAQUS of this geometry with different initial cracks are required and the weight factors are obtained by curves fitting. Two different crack-face loading cases (uniform stress and concentrated load at crack mouth) are used to get the reference SIF and CMOD when the initial crack tends to be zero or infinite. Then the weight function of square plate with edge crack is obtained and is useful for industrial application.
