摘要
Inspiring fear in the modern times before being occupied territories, the twin nations Poland and Lithuania reappeared in the international community at the conclusion of the First World War. This double rebirth comes through the fall of the Tsarist and Central empires, not only thanks to the treaty of Versailles with principles of "self-determination", but also during another war against Bolshevik Russia. Nevertheless, they suffer from a too big ethnic, linguistic, cultural, religious and historical nearness. Besides, their borders are artificial and so contested: the storming of Wilno by Poles in 1920 makes henceforth tangible the hate. And this dispute exceeds arbitrage of the League of Nations for the benefit of two other redoubtable neighbours: Nazi Germany and Stalinist USSR.
