Low-temperature synthesis of Hausmannite Mn3O4

摘要
Hausmannite, Mn3O4, was synthesized by the hydrothermal oxidation of suspended Mn(OH)2 at ambient air at room temperature. The hausmannite exhibited thermal stability up to 250 °C. The formation of the Mn3O4 at such low-temperature regime avoids the undesirable effects of sintering on the surface accessibility. The low-temperature Mn3O4 assumes a relatively higher specific area than the Mn3O4(R) synthesized by calcination at 1050 °C.
