摘要
The Royal Project was implemented by His Majesty The King of Thailand to improve the living standard of the hill tribes, replace opium poppy cultivation and to facilitate more sustainable highland agriculture practices. Vegetable production is one of the activities implemented by the project. Presently, there are 3,000 families in 37 extension stations in 5 provinces in the northern part of Thailand engaged in the production of 140 kinds of vegetable crops. The quantity of vegetables produced has increased from 235 metric tonnes in 1997 to 7,655 metric tonnes in 2004. To compete, high quality standards must be met. Quality is affected at all levels of the supply chain including production, post-harvest, storage, transport and distribution. Improving supply chain management may lead to competitive advantage through greater operational efficiency and market responsiveness from farm to fork.
