Yield stress in semi-solid alloys - the dependency on time and deformation history

摘要
The yield stress and shear moduli in semi-solid A356 aluminium alloy have been measured by means of shear ramp and oscillation experiments. The influence of duration of resting time and shear deformation history on the rigidity and yield stress has been determined. The experimental results from the different applied measurement techniques have been evaluated and compared. Due to the density difference in the particle- and liquid phase of the A356 alloy suspension, segregation of particles occurs during the resting time of the experiments. The influence of particle segregation during the yield stress and rigidity measurements has been discussed.
