LEADERSHIP EFFECTIVENESS OF PRINCIPALS IN RELATION TO SCHOOL ORGANISATIONAL CLIMATE IN IRAN AND INDIA

In the present study leadership effectiveness of schools' principals in relation to organisational climate of schools in Iran and India was investigated. Six hundred teachers were selected from hundred and twenty high schools from Isfahan city (Iran) and Mysore city (India) through two- stage stratified random sampling technique. Selection of schools and teachers was done by giving equal representation of both government and private schools. Leadership Effectiveness Scale (LES) developed by Haseen Taj and School Organisational Climate Description Questionnaire (SOCDQ) adapted by Motilal Sharma were used in the present investigation to collect data. Findings indicate that principals in Iran and India differed significantly on leadership effectiveness. There was no significant difference between the two countries on organisational climate of schools. A high significant association existed between leadership effectiveness of the principals and organisational climate of schools.
