Cyclic Tests of Magnetorheological Elastomers with Various Magnetoactive Filler Contents

In this paper, isotropic magnetorheological elastotners were subjected to DMA (dynamic mechanical analysis) tests under various magnetic field directions. The materials were manufactured based on a thermoplastic SEES matrix and particles made of iron. The volume fraction of the filler was 10, 20 and 35%. The samples were cyclically stretched on a modular DMA test bench. A 430 mT magnetic field, produced by an array of cylindrical permanent magnets, was applied in a direction parallel and perpendicular to the specimens, to examine the scale of the magnetorheological effect. The results showed that the changes occurring in the fabricated composites are influenced not only by the filler content, but also by the orientation of the applied magnetic field.
