摘要
In recent years, China has often been seen as an example of a successful authoritarian political model, not democratic, but meritocratic and effective from the point of view of the public administration. The success of this model was largely due to the tradition of collective leadership and the regular rotation of power. This helped China avoid many of the problems prevalent in other authoritarian states. However, in February 2018, the CCP proposed the repeal of the Constitution of the PRC, which limits the power of the PRC Chairman and his deputy to two five-year terms. These amendments will allow Xi Jinping to remain in office for a third term and longer. The paper analyzes the causes of changes in the constitution and examines the prospects for transforming China's political system.
