THE GREEK-MELKITE-CATHOLIC CHURCH AND THE SECOND VATICAN COUNCIL (1959-1965)

This study focuses on the intervention of the Melkites at the Second Vatican Council. The author shows how they played a key role in the preparation of some of the texts of the Council. The first part presents the work and reflection carried out by the Melkite Church on ecclesiology before the Second Vatican Council, which was instrumental in the preparation of the interventions of the Melkite participants at the Council. The second part presents the fruit of the reflection of the Melkite Church and its influence on Lumen gentium, Unitatis redintegratio, Orientalium Ecclesiarum, and Christus Dominus.
