Trends in the standardization of ITU-T SG11 - Report on March 1999 general meeting

ITU-T SG11 has been contributing to the standardization of signaling systems, protocols of user network interface (UNI)s and network node interface (NNI)s. During the current period (1997 to 2000), ITU-T SG11 is promoting research as the leading SG of IMT-2000 and, at the same time, examining issues relating to the support of number portability and multimedia services. This paper explains the standardization trend with emphasis on the details of the discussions held at the SG11 meeting in Geneva, between March 1 and 19 this year.
