摘要
Views of Murray Peshkin, about science and religion, are discussed. It seems that most Americans have religious beliefs that are important to them. For some churches the biblical account of creation is an allergy. Some other churches that interpret the creation account literally hold that there is no conflict between bible and evolution. Science is based entirely on experiment, this can be illustrated by assuming that the world was created three hours ago with all our memories and everything else in place, science can not refute it. That leads into the notion that a proposition is not a scientific theory at all unless it is falsifiable in principle. Science and religion have different assumptions, different rules of interference, and different definitions of truth or reality. Scientists may have opinion about religion, but they can not honestly invoke the authority of science when they try to apply the logic of science on the other side of the fence.
