Students' Teamwork in Moodle LMS Environment

Our contribution presents a method of teamwork in the online course Methodology of Stylistics and Communication at Primary School. This method was used in the preparation for pupils' retelling a text in their own words. The contribution describes how the interactive possibilities provided by a virtual environment can foster communication and collaboration during the actual learning process. The work on the group-based assignment brought a beneficial connection between learning the theory in an on-line course and gaining specific experience in teaching practice. Students learned not only from the on-line course texts but also through sharing their views and experience, and through collaborating in the group forum. The survey showed that negative feelings and stalling communication are natural in some stages of such team assignment. Nevertheless, the students themselves can identify some barriers to successful collaboration, such as the failure to allocate tasks or failure to honour the agreement on task allocation.
