摘要
Introduction. - This paper aims to identify the major factors behind work accidents, which substantially contributes to taking the necessary precautions in order to reduce the occurrence of such accidents in workplaces.Methods. - In this study, work accidents that occurred in Turkey between 2010 and 2019 were investigated and the factors behind these occupational hazards were extensively examined based on the statistical evaluation of work accident data between 2010 and 2019.Results. - The obtained results emphasized that a special attention should be paid to the cons-truction, land transport, transport via pipelines and the coal and lignite mining industries as they illustrate the most affected sectors by work accidents. The statistical analysis conducted under the scope of this study also demonstrated that the largest number of fatal accidents occurred among employees over 65-year-old. The statistical results have also shown that the highest number of employment injuries took place between the months of May and August bet-ween 11:00 and 11:59 am and that elementary occupations are the most touched group by work accidents. The conducted study also demonstrated that the most common injuries caused by occupational works affect the upper extremities of the workers.
