The Myrmecophilous genus Trilobitideus (Coleoptera,Staphylinidae)

The genus Trilobitideus was re-described and illustrated. All previously known species were also re-described and illustrated, many with original photographs of the types. The following species were described as new: T dundoensis from Angola, T. gotwaldi from Kenya, T. mbalaensis from Zambia, and T. mugugaensis from Kenya. A cladogram of the relationships of the species is presented which seems to show that host specificity played little, if any role in the evolution of the species. A short description of the behavior of the species in the columns of their army ant hosts is presented.
