Background and discussion - PCI Design Handbook - Sixth edition

This report presents a chapter-by-chapter review of the 6th Edition of the PCI Design Handbook contents, outlining the general content and emphasizing changes from the previous edition. The new edition, published in 2004, has been significantly upgraded to reflect the numerous building code changes implemented since the 5th Edition, as well as to reflect the most recent research and experience (especially the ACI Building Code, ASCE 7 Loads Standard, and IBC). In particular, there is new material oil lateral load analysis and design, headed studs, and seismic design. Prior to publication, the Handbook underwent numerous reviews by the industry, outside consultants, and a Blue Ribbon Review Committee.
