Effect of Building Orientation on Energy Consumption in Hot Summer and Cold Winter Zone

摘要
In order to reduce building energy consumption in hot summer and cold winter zone, this paper analysed the effect of building orientation on the energy consumption in Ningbo by the dynamic simulation with the program DOE-2. The results show that the optimal orientation of a building should be within 15 degree of south, orientation to the north are traditionally unacceptable, and orientation to the west and east leads to significant increase in energy consumption.
