SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC DETERMINATION OF FRUSEMIDE BY ITS OXIDATION WITH POTASSIUM IODATE

摘要
A simple method is described for the spectrophotometric determination of frusemide (FRU) in pharmaceuticals. The method is based on the reaction of frusemide with potassium iodate in acidic medium to liberate iodine and the liberated iodine bleaches the pinkish red colour of rhodamine B (RB) which is measured at 557 nm. The calibration graph is linear from 88.0 to 120.0 mu g ml(-1). The molar absorptivity and the Sandell sensitivity are calculated to be 2.522x10(3) l mol(-1)cm(-1) and 0.1311 mu g cm(-2), respectively. The procedure is used to determine frusemide in pharmaceutical products.
