Aim Take Chang'an University as an example, questionnaire studies are done to improve the specialty. Method Questionnaire is recorded to gain the data of the perception for specialty, and the data were analyzed with SPSS. Results The result shows that the status of perception of specialty is not optimistic. The perception could been divided into 3 groups: optimism, pessimism and the middle. Each group had stabile component, and the virtuous circle model and vicious circle model are established in different groups, that could affect the students. Conclusions The problems appear in the development of specialty are caused by 3 different reasons. The first is the existing passive environment for specialty development; the second is the characteristic of specialty is not trenchancy; the third is that there are shortages in teaching program. So the Geography specialty building can be improved through strengthening propagating, reforming entrance education and improving the teaching system.
