摘要
Comparative analogy of certain elements of th e history of the Zapotheque population, which are found in two historical tales: the Historia Geografica descripcion de la parte septentrional del Polo Artico de la America, by the Dominican Francisco de Burgoa (1674) and the Mercurio Yndiano (1740-1745) by the Zapotheque cacique Patricio Antonio Lopez, interpreter of the Real y Apostolico Tribunal de Cruzada and the Superior Gobierno, who pretends to obtain with a historical poem from the Viceroy of New Spain, Pedro Castro de Figueroa, recently arrived, a fairer treatment towards his compatriots who find themselves "desvalidos en los negocios en que padecen algun agravio", and also brings out the glorious past of the Zapotheque population, disparaged to the point that his compatriots are called "irracionales, rudos, barbaros, pusilanimes, cobardes y serviles."
