摘要：

Zipf's law holds the promise of more effective design and use of Web cache resources. This paper discusses how to make use of Zipf's law to model the Web objects' popularity. For the high frequency objects, Zipf 1(st) law is employed to set up the model; for the low frequency objects, Zipf 2(nd) law is borrowed to simulate. Our model overcomes the limitation of only considering one-time referencing for the low frequency Web objects when modeled. A Web simulator POPSIM is presented based on the Web objects' popularity model and its validation is checked by experiment results.
