Broadband, cost-effective, power-efficient DBM for modem wireless applications

摘要
A high intercept points, broadband, cost-effective, and power-efficient double balanced mixer (DBM) is reported. The passive FET mixer using novel approach demonstrated in this work can operate with low noise figure and high dynamic ranges without the need of excessively high drive level, and gives input intercept points (IIP3) in excess of 43dBm and conversion loss 9dB with the LO power typically 18dBm for the frequency band (RF: 800-2400MHz, LO: 750-2200MHz, IF: 50-200MHz). The measured interport isolation is better than 30dB for broadband applications, and the circuit topology is not limited to these frequencies, and can be easily extended for present and later generation of communication systems.
