摘要
The Posttraumatic Growth Inventory represents one of the most important instruments measuring positive personal changes occurring after living a very negative or traumatic situation. The present study analyzes its psychometric properties in a population affected by a natural disaster. The instrument was administered to 449 adults exposed to the earthquake and tsunami in Chile occurred in 2010. The scale showed high internal consistency (alpha = 0.95); the lowest value of the corrected item-total correlation was 0.35. Confirmatory factor analysis showed appropriate goodness of fit for a three-factor structure and a second order factor. The results show that the PTGI is a useful tool for investigating posttraumatic growth in Chilean population affected by natural disasters.
