Building an Intelligent Tutor for Social Skills: Lessons Learned

Intelligent Tutoring Systems have so far been used with a fair degree of success in several domains such as Algebra, Geometry, Programming, Physics, Medicine and others. In the case of social skills however, there are some particularities that need to be taken into account when designing and developing an ITS. The current paper gives an overview of the principles that have been found to be relevant in building such an ITS and while these are not intended to be exhaustive they are meant to challenge the community to further discussions, in order to answer one question: "Can human behavior be "trained" using computer systems?"
