摘要：

By introducing the necessity of applying Chinese traditional elements in modern design, it analyzed the artistic features of Huizhou decorative element "Chinese character 'Shang' shaped door" including modeling characteristic, decorative form and human flavor. And then it discussed in detail how to extract the whole shape and typical decorative patterns of Huizhou "Chinese character 'Shang' shaped door" and applied them in new Chinese-style furniture design. Finally it concluded that this study is beneficial to inherit Chinese traditional decorative culture and to provide new ideas for designing new Chinese furniture, but also provided a lesson for other traditional elements applied in modern design.
