This paper describes the EMC (ElectroMagnetic Compatibility) activities of the Maintenance and Service Operations department. Malfunctions can occur in telecommunications systems installed in some particular electromagnetic environments. Changes in the electromagnetic environment can also cause malfunctions. Tools to identify the source of the disturbance and the necessary corrective measures are being developed at the Technical assistance and Support Center (TASC) of NTT. TASC provides feedback on its research to the system development divisions to assist in designing reliable equipment.
