Thermo-mechanical fatigue (TMF) in turbine airfoils: Typical loading, 3D effects and adjusted testing

摘要
Thermo-mechanical loading are caused by three effects: centrifugal forces due to turbine rotation, bending due to the gas stream, and thermal stresses which are caused by stationary and transient inhomogeneities in the temperature distribution. Typical loading conditions were evaluated by FEM and define the parameter for TMF testing. Consequences for the requirements to TMF testing are drawn and possible solutions are shown and discussed in detail.
