Principles of surgical oncology in the treatment of hilar cholangiocarcinoma

摘要：
The anatomical situation within the hepatoduodenal ligament, the hepatic hilum and the intrahepatic biliary ramification are a major obstacle to a straightforward application of principles of surgical oncology as e.g. achieving wide tumor-free margins and performing no-touch procedures. Right trisegmentectomies are most likely to comply with these principles, while transplantation procedures face the unsolved oncological problem of altered tumor cell growth kinetics during chronic immunosuppression.
