摘要
In this paper we review the concepts and theoretical models for identifying learning styles. It describes research on the topic of interest, aspects of virtual learning environments, identification and application of learning styles. We also present the theory of experiential learning and learning styles model put forward by David Kolb, which provides alternate identification and implementation of learning styles in virtual learning environments for adults. Preliminary results reveal predominant learning styles (according to the theory of David Kolb) among students engaged in short course distance learning and the relationship between; individual styles, activities and methodological strategies they use to develop their activities. Ultimately, these findings may provide useful basis in the construction of a methodology for the implementation of learning styles in virtual training environments.
