In the late 18th century, the notion of >solitude< takes on a broader meaning both in terms of time and space and in terms of its emotional dimension: it becomes a poetogenic and pathogenic >state of the souk The essay retraces this process of semantization and offers on this basis new perspectives on, among others, Goethe's Sorrows of Young Werther.
