Innovation in engineering education: a strategic plan including quality projects and new management ideas

In October 1995 the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) adopted its Strategic Plan 95, thus establishing a solid basis for the growth and development of DTU in the years to come. It was decided to focus oil 12 selected areas of research and education, primarily areas in which DTU holds a strong position internationally or has the potential to do so. The Strategic Plan is an expression of a desire to focus oil quality in both research and education. We are currently working on putting the plan into practice at the various levels of the DTU system and are in this contribution giving an update on the work, our ideas, their effects etc. To be mentioned are the benefits of a modular system, implementation of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), implementation of quality assurance and the plan for the future content and management of the engineering programmes.
