Based on research of strength and failure characteristics of deep rock mass and the influence of void pressure on creep deformation of rock mass, the mechanism of coal and gas outbursts in deep mines was analyzed. Under the leading role of ground stress and sensitive influence of void pressure, the coal and gas outbursts in deep mines was synthetic caused by ground stress, gas and gravity stress. The rules, such as the obvious enhance of ground stress, the evident increase of low-index outbursts and closely correlation of gas outbursts and rock burst, were concluded. Then, a few important conclusions were suggested, which played an active role in prevention of coal and gas outburst in deep mines..
