Computer-based training for failure analysis

The amount of information necessary to perform failure analysis (FA) is beginning to overwhelm the analyst. Methods for managing and locating FA information must be developed if we are to continue to be effective in solving problems that occur during design, fab, packaging, and field use. To this end, Sandia National Laboratories has developed a computer-based training tool for FA known as FASTAdvice. FASTAdvice is a hypertext-based, multimedia tool that simulates the thinking process of a number of failure analysis experts and contains a substantial portion of the knowledge necessary to successfully perform FA.
