摘要
The secularization of religion has been a subject of academic inquiry for fifty years. While the decline in religious belief and the secularization of religion in Europe have been increasing, the movement towards spirituality, in North America, has been on the increase. This increased secularization and the concurrent growth of interest in spirituality within the psychology and counselling disciplines have fostered ethical debates about the appropriateness of any discussion of faith within the therapeutic relationship. Clinicians from 14 nations joined in a discussion debating the question: "Is there a place for religion in contemporary psychology?" This paper examines that debate and reveals differences in the viewpoints of clinicians in various global locations.
