RETRACTED: Studies of the Buckling Propagation of Deep-sea Pipeline with Local Defect (Retracted Article)

During the period of pipe laying, buckling instability often occurs because of local defect which is caused by initial ovality or collision. With initial defect such as local ovality, local buckling will propagate along the pipe's axial direction rapidly under the external hydrostatic pressure. Theoretical model was established firstly, building 2D discrete ring model and mechanical model of collapse of deep-sea pipeline. The relationship of collapse process of pipeline cross-section and buckling propagation pressure was obtained from the analysis. Furthermore, buckling propagation process was simulated by the finite element software-ABAQUS. Finally, deep-sea pipeline buckling propagation experiment was conducted based on Deep-water Structure Laboratory of Tianjin University. The results of theoretical analysis, numerical simulation and experiment are relatively consistent which can provide reliable foundation for buckling propagation study.
