A Smart Sensor Node Design for Efficient Communication in ZigBee Wireless Sensor Networks

Recent adoptions and visibility of wireless sensor nodes (WSNs) are increasing significantly in factory and cyberphysical systems (CPS). Wireless sensor networks (WSN) usually consist of a large number of sensors and sensor nodes. The communication network systems are expected to achieve effective and efficient works. This paper proposes a novel wireless smart sensor node design. The nodes combine with a micro-computer unit (MCU) and a ZigBee module. The smart sensor node can transmit preprocessed sensing information or case status to a base station instead of transmitting raw sensing data. This approach presents an efficient way to the transceiver system for WSN management.
